AUROLAB TEACHER’S AWARENESS COURSE
April 2008-October 2009
The following is a 2 year course for teachers, teacher trainees aspiring teachers and serious practitioners who seek to develop new ways of experiencing and understanding their practice and effectively transmit this experience with vibrant clarity.
This course is structured around 4 week - long residential intensives.
- 22-29 March 2008
- 18-25 October 2008

- October 2009
- Exact dates for 2009 will be given at the end of year one.
Each week will focus on different aspects of the practice and will be themed around key concepts from Patanjali’s Sutras, the 4 aspects of the Divine Shakti and the 5 koshas or sheaths. We will also look at some relevant contemporary texts in tune with the group’s commitment and level of aspiration.
- The Classical path and its profound enquiry:
- Samadhi Pada Contemplation / Union
- Sadhana Pada Method / Practice
- Vibhuti Pada Accomplishment / Realisation
- Kaivalya Pada Liberation / Serenity
- The advent of the divine feminine, the transformative powers
- Maheshwari Wisdom, higher intuition, truth
- Mahakali Ruthless intensity, uncompromising force, Tapas
- Mahalakshmi Beauty, refinement, delicacy, grace, compassion
- Mahasaraswati Organisation, order, rigour, perfection in work, justice
- The koshas : Cultivating sensitivity
- Physical Annamaya Incarnation, creative movement, grounded ness, asana
- Vital Pranamaya Breath of Life, pranic fluidity, core strength, health
resourcefulness - Mental Manomaya Mental stability, poise, serenity, clarity, purpose
- Psychic Vijnanamaya Intellect, intentionality, intuition, connectivity, the broader relational field
- Spiritual Anandamaya Seeing what is: the primal state of joy, beyond the self, embodiment, stasis.
- Our overall approach integrates:
- Dynamic morphology to experience the underlying gesture that leads to form, spinal integration moving from the core to the periphery, fluidity, the potential of ‘here and now’, self-acceptance
- Sacred Sound to understand and experience the power of sound frequencies on the physical and subtle bodies and their healing resonance, using toning, harmonic and seed sounds from both tantric and shamanic traditions.
- Physiology the inner workings of our body-mind-soul complex: the imprints of the past and the anticipation of the future. Releasing and letting-go: the physical, mental emotional and cultural components of tension, understanding elemental configurations and patterns of resistance.
- Psychology the impact of the practice on our emotional and behavioural patterns, Sankalpa (the practice of intentionality), conflict, suffering, death and change.
Incarnation is not resumed at birth, it is a life - long journey.
We are a process ‘in formation’ not a fixed form complete with personality traits and unredeemable genetic inheritance. What appears to be fixed is transformable through self-reflective enquiry and the support of sensitive energy work.
Personal healing and transformation creates a vibrant field of possibility where collective inquiry and positive action can be taken.
We take responsibility for our individual and collective future, for conceiving new socio-political paradigms and creating the energetic configuration for the advent of a spiritualised society, which in final analysis, is our human destiny.
This course is for the curious and young at heart, whose practise is rooted in any style of Yoga, meditation and/or chanting.
You will need a readiness to drop any preconceptions and a commitment to deepen your understanding of the subject.
