Sama Fabian

Sama in Chaturanga Dandasana

The Yoga form is the result of a harmonisation of all the parts of the body, a coordinated tuning of the emotions and a sensitive adjustment of the mind into a still point. The asana is the visual, sensual revelation of the person’s intelligence, understanding and level of clarity. The essence of my teaching is to create a field of consciousness where students can perceive directly their individual needs and gain access into their vital and energy bodies, their emotions and their minds. My intention is to support people in finding their inherent fluidity and lightness and discover the grace and beauty of their personal human dance. Read more about Sama

The Art of Practice: 5 Day Yoga Intensive with Sama Fabian and Tanya Syed

10-15 June 2008 Clare Island

‘We are not a fixed form, but a process in formation’ SF

View from Shala

The retreat facilitates a creative dialogue between breath, body and voice to bring about an experience of wholeness. In practicing from habit, assumption or memory we create resistances and restrictions in one or several layers of our being. We are not a fixed form, but a process 'in formation' , and the possibilities for transformation are available at every moment, as Yoga is a state of freedom through unified consciousness.

In this integrated practice we seek to increase our sensitivity to a broader and finer perceptual field, expanding our enquiry through visualisation, pranayama and sacred sound. The practice is grounded in comprehensive asana, bandha and mudra work and philosophy is woven into the teaching as a sustaining continuum.

This course is open to all practitioners of any style of Yoga, meditation and/or chanting.

Auroville, Winter 2008/9

Auroville, India, 22 Dec 2008- 4 Jan 2009

We return to Auroville for our two yearly intensive with renewed impetus and a sense of adventure. This time around, our intention is to define the links between aspects of Yoga and the three-fold ecology.
The essential ethical and practical principles of the two sciences, infused into our collective reflection are instrumental to further transformations. Each must labor deeply to reach this level of responsibility and consciousness and access the sacred dimension that makes us experience life as a magical and magnificent gift.

This two-week intensive is addressed to dedicated practitioners of all styles of Yoga, chanting or meditation, who wish to deepen their level of integration and access profound layers of experience to bring forth into matter all that our vision, dream body and higher intuition are already showing us.
Our focus this year is to stabilize the nervous system, restore pranic fluidity and in reaching deep releases, reconnect with our true voice.

The course is dynamically interactive and integrates:

    • Meditation, Pranayama and energy work (Sama Fabian)
    • Yoga of Sound (Tanya Syed)
    • Full Asana spectrum, vinyasa flows and long timing practices (Sama Fabian)
    • Vedic Mantra and chanting Patanjali (Joy Showdhury)
